Low Vision Rehabilitation
Low Vision is a term used to describe the remaining vision in people who are visually impaired due to some underlying eye pathology or trauma. Typically, those who are visually impaired suffer from macular degeneration, advanced glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy. Unfortunately, many of these conditions cannot be corrected with surgery or cured with medication. And for those whose vision loss has been stabilized, they may still not be seeing well enough to perform daily functions. Fortunately, low vision aids can assist most visually impaired persons and allow them to accomplish the tasks with which they have had difficulty such as reading, writing, or watching television. Advanced Eye Care & Surgery is one of the few eye care practices in central Texas to offer comprehensive low vision examinations and rehabilitation aids for patients who are visually impaired, often improving quality of life for these individuals.
